A hackamore is commonly used on speed event horses; or horses that do not accept bits in their mouth or because of an injured mouth. It is designed to create pressure across the nose. When the reins are pulled; the curb chain is engaged and applies pressure to the chin; nose and with the longer shanks; the poll of the horse. The Hackamore/Sliding Gag combination provides comfort and extreme control on the horse. It controls the horse speed and direction through pinching effect on the lower part of the horse head. This is quite safe to use and is a perfect example of a Humane tack because of the fact that it has no component going into the horse mouth thereby eliminating the chance of any injury or damage.
